GuyKat in South Africa
This week GuyKat CEO, Guy McEvoy, visited South Africa. He met with commercial and social entrepreneurs from the township of Khayelitsha, including Nomvano Mbathiso (pictured) who runs the Try Again F.C. club which aims to use football to keep young men out of gangs.
Guy said; "It's been an eye opening week. South Africa is a beautiful country with so much going for it. The wealth inequality is a shock though. It's given me a lot to think about in terms of the different challenges entrepreneurs face here both in accessing finance and clearing bureaucratic hurdles in order to grow. I'm also struck by how digital learning technology could help people here leap-frog some of these issues. That's something I'll be thinking about on my return."
His trip was hosted by Stellenbosch University and the program put together by Aston Business School, an institution which GuyKat is proud to enjoy close ties.
GuyKat Support Veterans Football
As in previous years, GuyKat were proud to provide support for the 'Everton Vets' team in this year's "WorldNet Big Tam Veterans Trophy" held in Nottingham. The 'boys' made a great effort to defend the trophy they won last year, however, after eight games spread over two days, they narrowly lost one-nil to a team from Bury in the final. GuyKat CEO, Guy McEvoy, said; "People should still be able to enjoy playing competitive sport past their mid-thirties. It's great to see a properly organised competition for gentlemen of a certain age. The team were unlucky not keep hold of the trophy, but I know they'll be back next year, and we'll continue to support them."

The Docebo Tower Bridge Experience
Many thanks to all those who attended this week's 'Docebo On The Road' event held in the iconic North Tower of London's Tower Bridge. A global landmark seems fitting for the launch of Docebo version 7.0. as this is a clear landmark in our product development. Brum Tech BBQ Sponsors
GuyKat were proud to sponsor this year's 'Summer Tech BBQ' hosted by our next-door neighbours - iCentrum as part of the "TechWednesday" schedule. Up-to-200 people from across Birmingham's flourishing tech community attended. Sausages, Burgers and Halloumi was scoffed, beer and Pimms was downed. The British weather came good. We hope all who attended had as good a time as we did.
Vets Win Big Tam Trophy
For the last three years GuyKat have provided support to a team of 'veteran' (i.e. over 35) footballers who play in the World Net Vets 'Big Tam' trophy representing Everton. The tournament takes place annually in Leeds and is spread over a July weekend. The Everton team have entered the tournament for the past 18 years (so long before we got involved). However, this year, for the first time ever the team won the overall trophy. Congratulations from everyone at GuyKat. Next year the challenge is to defend the title!

Launch of Interactive Live Video
Today, GuyKat announce the general launch of 'interactive live video' as a new product option. The announcement comes after successful pilot projects at two key clients.
Lead developer, Hannah Quinton said; "We're always looking at the mix of eLearning solutions we offer. We've made brilliant animated, narrated and bite-size material for years. But we've previously used third party providers to bring 'live action' video into the mix. Investments in new kit together with experience from the pilot projects have brought the studio capability in-house. We're going a step further. Video can move from something you press play and watch, to something you interact with. A film character can talk to you. What they say next will depend upon your interaction. This means learners can have different experiences depending upon their choices. We've done this 'scenario based' approach for some time with animation, but bringing it to 'live action' film is a step change."
GuyKat founder, Guy McEvoy said; "We're excited about the opportunities for our more ambitious clients. We still offer all our core delivery options and will help clients chose the mix that is right for them. In most cases budgets will mean that our award-winning animated solutions will still be first choice. However, for mission critical learning programs, where a classroom based roll-out may be the alternative, interactive video can be both incredibly compelling and cost-effective."

Lead Designer Up for Award
We're incredibly proud that our Lead eLearning Designer, Hannah Quinton, has been shortlisted in the tech category for the the Birmingham Young Professional of the Year Awards.
Hannah is a certified developer in Adobe Captivate. In 2015, her work was deployed in over 52 countries and used in the training of thousands of professionals worldwide. Hannah's been a key driver in GuyKat’s ongoing success, helping the company grow by 20 per cent year-on-year. She also project managed a suite of online training modules that won the Digital Technology category in the Insider Midlands 2015 Export Awards.
We wish Hannah the very best of luck for the award ceremony which will be held at the ICC in Birmingham on 12th May.
