This week GuyKat CEO, Guy McEvoy, visited South Africa. He met with commercial and social entrepreneurs from the township of Khayelitsha, including Nomvano Mbathiso (pictured) who runs the Try Again F.C. club which aims to use football to keep young men out of gangs.
Guy said; “It’s been an eye opening week. South Africa is a beautiful country with so much going for it. The wealth inequality is a shock though. It’s given me a lot to think about in terms of the different challenges entrepreneurs face here both in accessing finance and clearing bureaucratic hurdles in order to grow. I’m also struck by how digital learning technology could help people here leap-frog some of these issues. That’s something I’ll be thinking about on my return.”
His trip was hosted by Stellenbosch University and the program put together by Aston Business School, an institution which GuyKat is proud to enjoy close ties.
