USA Hockey had been using a number of platforms to support their learning needs, which created fragmentation across the user experience and made it challenging to track data consistently.
Transitioning to Docebo provided an opportunity to consolidate these systems into one central platform, enabling a more streamlined approach to learning and clearer visibility across education streams.
USA Hockey worked with GuyKat to design a cohesive, intuitive and tailored platform experience that would support both learners and administrators.
What was the learning challenge?
USA Hockey needed to modernise and simplify its learning ecosystem. Previously, education was spread across multiple custom-built platforms, with coaching information, officiating information, eLearning and Zoom sessions all hosted separately. These systems were difficult to configure, challenging to maintain, and required specialist knowledge to manage.

What was the solution?
USA Hockey implemented Docebo as a one-stop-shop for all coaching and officiating education and GuyKat played a critical role in shaping the experience. The result is a modern, centralised learning hub that simplifies administration and improves the learner journey.
The new platform now includes:
Personal Learner Profiles:
These provide coaches and officials with a complete history of their courses and certifications. The platform also tracks certification expiry dates and dynamically displays links directing learners to renew their certifications outside the platform when required, ensuring credentials remain up to date.
Asynchronous eLearning Journey:
A fully asynchronous eLearning journey combining formal and informal learning, with centralised resources. Training materials are hosted directly within the platform and complemented by ILT facilitation and live Zoom sessions.
Certifications:
Dedicated processes to capture external certifications, ensuring all credentials are stored and managed within Docebo.
Streamlined Learning Experience:
A streamlined learning experience for both coaching and officiating communities, including iframe integrations that allow learners to access external training content directly within Docebo without leaving the USA Hockey platform
UX/UI Design and Advanced Use of Widgets:
The team worked to create a customised look and feel tailored specifically to coaches and officials, ensuring the platform was intuitive, engaging and aligned with USA Hockey’s needs.
What was the impact?
Early indicators demonstrate strong adoption and engagement:
The scale of completions highlights the platform’s reach and the successful transition to a unified system.
The new platform allowed USA Hockey to successfully reintroduce the Playing Rules Exercise (PRE) and online education modules, which had been paused the previous season. Their return has strengthened the educational pathway for officials and reinforced rules knowledge as a core component of certification.
In addition to participation metrics, the unified platform has begun to streamline administrative workflows for staff and volunteers who manage education programs nationwide. The centralised system provides improved tracking, reporting, and access to learning resources, making it easier to manage registrations, monitor completions, and deliver updated educational content.
